1848 Model of Carwynnen (Pendarves) Quoit by Miss Louise and Miss Matilda Millet as in the Penlee Art Gallery and Museum, Penzance.
The sisters, Miss Louise (1801-1871) and Miss Matilda Millet (1805-1885) made models of local antiquities for the Penzance Natural history and Antiquarian Society in the years 1847-8. Some of these, including a model of Carwynnen (Pendarves Quoit), can now be found in Penlee Museum, Penzance.
The Society noted they are a 'lasting record of the antiquities they represent as they existed in 1848.' It is said the models are extremely accurate in there execution.
The models, about six inches in height, are made of clay, stonedust and paper-mache.
