Where is Pendarves Quoit?
PLEASE RESPECT ALL LANDOWNERS RIGHTS.
Pendarves Quoit is about 2 to 3 miles south of Camborne, West Cornwall. It is on private farmland but can be seen in the distance from the Troon to Praze-an-Beeble lane at the bottem of the valley. The land between the lane and the Quoit is 'set aside land' which the Sustainable Trust is under negotiations with the owners.
Most of the woods in the Pendarves area are classed as Urban Common Land under Section 15 of the Countryside & Rights of Way Act 2000. This gives a right for 'air and exercise' on any commonland in an urban district. Contact the Senior Access Officer at Cornwall County Council for clarification and details on 01872 222000 or email accessteam@cornwall.gov.uk You will see paths in the woods but it must be remembered all commonland is privately owned and the owners rights respected. This includes Pendarves Nature reserve.
The general public has some rights of access to common land under the Law of Property Act of 1925. This gave the public right of access to commons in London and other urban areas for air and recreation. In some rural areas local lords of the manor have given various rights of access to common land in their ownership. 'The Forests of England' by Peter J Neville Havins.

There is a leaflet describing the route avaliable for a donation.
